job,bond and training

I was really thinking about posting something since a long time,(not that there are regular readers waiting for my post). But couldn't post anything.
Recently I have been busy with 'job hunting'. Exams are over, the course itself is over and the final results also arrived. So I am a B Tech graduate now(not feeling excited!).So its already late to start searching for a job and I started right away.
For me job hunting is simply regular travels to Trivandrum, long walks, lunch from hotels, taking some tests, some interviews,... Its sad that the companies don't just complete the whole process in a single day. The whole process will take months! First you will have the test, then again test, then GD maybe (boooo) then interview, again and again interviews. You need to keep your mobile phone in 'general' mode all the time. You can expect a call any moment (that's a whole lot of trouble).
Well this is not what I really had to tell. After completing the whole process, I got an offer from a company. But their terms..: 2.5 years bond! That's a lil too much. The HR said that for more than a year we will remain unproductive(really?!). That's just not it. Here comes the package: 8.5k/month for 1 year(you will get only 5k in hand), then 10k then 13k. When the HR told all these, I didn't feel anything wrong. But later when I talked about the same to my friends and after hearing their opinion... 5k! for an Engg graduate! and that too after working 10 hours a day!? Not good. I agree that every nuke and corner 1 will find an Engineer but we ought to get paid at least as much as the salesperson in a textiles shop, right?
Now moving on to the next company, this company is a good one. Completed half way through the process and at the HR round ,again came the case of 2.5 years bond. When I questioned it, the HR responded by saying that they put a lot of effort on training ,especially because some of the candidates have no IT background. That's true ,because when I went for the test there were people arguing on whether mouse is an input device or an output device. And at the Tech round, there were candidates from EC and EE backgrounds. One of the selected candidates asked me what a database is, after the interview. What I ask is why select people who don't have an IT background? Its like the companies don't have any other option. Its not that we have learnt much during the 4 years of Engg, (well I don't seemed to have learnt anything. The only skill I am confident on is the c and cpp that I learnt in my higher secondary) but we do have learnt quiet a few things (for eg: what is a database?)
Well, some companies, after completing a few of the processes, they will tell "you have to undergo a training (no problem sir) but for that you will have to pay initially 15k (what??!!) blah blah blah...". Well if only they had told me about the training earlier,I wouldn't have spent my precious time(usually spent on killing bees)!
The medical students become a doctor right after their course is completed, but for us to be an Engineer , we need to undergo lots and lots of training. Of course we need training to cope up with the company ideals but that's not it. We need intensive training! We should have got some corporate experience right during the time of our course itself. I think that's the purpose of projects. And its not carried out that well(with some exceptions, of course).
No wonder many of my friends joined bank coaching and PSC coaching centers. But for me, I believe in doing what I love to do the most, and that is programming. Who knows what next!? Anyways, hats off to all those who got placed after a whole lot of trouble.!!

NB: This is my first 'serious' post! :P
